From a mom of a 12 year old:

Our son became more comfortable reading and taking initiative for his school work.  Homework had been a difficult time at our home but now our son is more independent and his work does not overwhelm him so much. His teachers said he has developed by leaps and bounds this year.  His last progress report had him with straight A's.

His reading comfort level was 3.8 now it is a 5.4

His reading comprehension was a 3.2 now it is a 6.5

He also improved in his visual and auditory memory from average to above average.

A letter from a mom of a 10 year old:

I knew it was the right decision. Our son had been struggling since 3rd grade and I felt like every attempt to get him resulted in another slammed door in our face.  To be tested "borderline" was almost worse than showing a true learning disability as "borderline" resulted in absolutely no assistance.

After talking with Cathy the first time on the phone I knew that Learning for Tomorrow was the right fit for my son.  Finally, a place to get help!!! My son began his program in February, going twice/week after school.  Shortly afterwards he began another program and came 4 days a week for one hour.He was none-to-happy to learn that he would continue at LFT 4 days/week even over the summer but I truly feel this is when the transformation occurred.

When he started 6th grade this fall, within 2 weeks of school starting, I saw a different child.  He was organized, enthusiastic about his homework, and didn't complain about doing his homework.  The biggest difference I noticed right away was that spelling and reading came 200% times easier for him.  Finally ....success!!! ONe night of review for a test and he would score an A or B on the test.  I believe this is mostly due to the fact that he can now retain information they cover in the classroom.  The previous year before LFT, it would take us 3-4 nights to review for a test because we'd have to re-read the chapters and facts, trying to find ways to make it "stick" in his brain.  NOw he can read the chapters on his own and actually recall what he read.  I was floored at the difference.  What a relief!!!

I still hear "Mom, it's time for us to work on science/social studies/Etc. ..", but typically I'll tell him, "you get it started and I'll be there in a minute"  When I do get in to help him many times he is almost done with the assignments.  He completes them all by himself!!!!

He has absolutely soared in reading, comprehension and spelling.  He is a totally different child.  He is confident, organized and does not show any frustration with his work.  We would not be at this point without the help of Cathy and her staff at LFT.  I could hear it in Cathy's voice from the first conversation we had when I called, practically in tears, this lady knew exactly how to help us. I can not thank her enough for the help she has given our son.

Success Stories

PARENTS

"When he started school eight months ago, he could not spell simple first grade words like is and was. He would study every single night and get none of his third grade words correct (0 out of 7). Now, instead of studying for long periods, he studies 1-2 nights a week for five to ten minutes at the most. His spelling has improved to 6 or 7 correct words. Last week my fifth grade girl told me that they were taking turns reading paragraphs from her new book, which was fifth grade level."

"My daughter was reading above grade level, but comprehension was a problem. She improved nearly 3 grade levels in 20 weeks."

"She carries a book with her to read. She has never done that before."

"She can now study and pass her Social Studies test without help."

"My son now has hope. I have a new son."

"My child has even noticed that he could remember directions without prompting and his spelling grade went back to an A."

"My son suffers from dyslexia. This years performance has improved dramatically - he has made the honor roll twice and missed it by two points twice. his behavior at school has been good."

"My child has made the honor roll both grading periods and seems to be comprehending things much quicker this year. I am very pleased with the progress. He seems more confident about school."

"We feel that memory skills, comprehension, school grades, organizational skills, self-esteem, behavior and attitude have all improved over what they were when he started the program. He seems more confident and competent to do his work by himself - unassisted. My child made the honor roll and requires almost no help from us with his school work."

"My child is much improved in his school work. Soon after entering the program, we noticed increased use of different vocabulary. The following of directions we give verbally is improved. We praise the Lord for the LFT program and the teachers."

"My child seems happier, has more confidence and definitely enjoys reading better. I don't think he gets as frustrated."

"His report card went up. He had all A's and B's for the first time. He was thrilled! My child says he can retain better when studying for tests."

"It was a program that he enjoyed from the start and it has improved his skills greatly. Before, he did not like to read; now he devours books, even large novels."

"My child's comprehension seems to come quicker now. He gets it the first time he reads, instead of re-reading the whole chapter for each question."

"He has gone from doing 5-6 hours of homework a night in elementary to usually finishing within 1-2 hours in junior high. He is better at staying focused on his work."

"It has given him more confidence. My child did not want to stop. He really enjoyed it. He said that was one thing he looked forward to every day."

"Before, my daughter would work on homework every night until 9:30 PM with only 20 minutes for supper. Now, she usually doesn't have homework, and if she does it is usually done in an hour."

"After ten weeks on Essential Learning Systems I realized my daughter knew her math facts."

TEACHERS

"A teacher asked one parent: "Have you increased his medication? He sits in his seat, doesn't bother the other students, and does his work better."

"A teacher writes: "When he started in the fall, he was totally uncommunicative. He had difficulty following instructions. After one month he was greeting me, carrying on a conversation, which he initiated sometimes. His attitude was always good. I could see he was finally beginning to enjoy himself and was catching up on his studies. He seemed more motivated to succeed, even though it was the end of his senior year (or maybe because it was the end of his senior year). In any case, whether academically or emotionally, he was definitely helped."

"A teacher told a parent: "I am impressed that a child who had no concept of what a sentence was in December is now writing good sentences on his own. His reading level has gone from the beginning of first grade to the middle of second grade this year."

STUDENTS

"Before working in the lab, I got mad because I couldn't read the words; now, I really like to read."

"I am thirty-six years old, married and a father of three. Three years ago I left a family owned business to go back to school with the hope of obtaining a degree. I put an incredible amount of hours into my studies, but I was having problems and getting depressed. I had problems interpreting what I was reading correctly. I tried as hard as I could to carefully read and reread the questions on my test and I was disgusted to see what I had put down for answers when I received my tests back. I couldn't figure out how I had misinterpreted some of the questions on the test. "My self-esteem started to suffer and I knew that I had to get some kind of help. After spending approximately ten weeks on your program I was amazed. I could read materials and my reading speed increased immensely. Best of all, at test time I became relaxed and confident about taking the test because I was able to recall immediately the notes I had studied. "The Essential Learning Systems program has made me a success story instead of another misunderstood statistic of our educational system. I used to be embarrassed because of my academic under achievement, but after I learned what the problem was and how easily it could be corrected, this is no longer so. I now share my story with anyone that I think might be able to benefit from this program. Thank you sincerely." (This person is now pursuing a doctorate in his field.)
